AND LO, THE GM MADE A NOTE OF THEIR INJURIES,
RECORDING WHO SUFFERED THE BLOW AND ALSO,
skipping forward D6 days, when the damage would heal.
And it was good.
๐ 44 pages of Guildmaster diary ๐
Notes are extremely important to the tabletop experience, but that doesn't mean they should be complicated or difficult to use. We've created a diary that allows the Doomsong GMs to organise their notes in the same way a person would organise their week: with a diary.
This GM supplement is laid out so it is simple to use. It presents an in-world journal organised by weeks and seasons. One week is displayed on a single two-page spread, so it is easy to spot upcoming notes and prompts. The beginning of this books also contains handy information you might want to know about the world, like cycles of the moon and local rulers of specific regions!
Our driving motivation with the diary was to provide as many tools as possible in the same place. The GM is free to pick up or put down whichever ones they like!
๐ What lies within? ๐
Weekly Random Weather Tables. Each week contains a weather table. The GM can roll once per in-game day to generate a random weather event. This could range from 'a nice bit of scene-building' to something that affects the game more directly, such as a wildfire or snowstorm. Each table is different, and each weekly table is tailored to the current season!
In-Game Timekeeping. This diary is organised using the in-world zodiac. As such, the GM who wants to build a lot of lore into their game will have an easy time remembering characters are currently experiencing 'Dies Primus, in the Second Week of Autumn, in the House of Pestilence descending, under the Sign of Rot.'
Heresy. Each week is dominated by a different combination of gods. This changes the world of Painyme in certain ways. Often, certain wycces will find their powers have increased due to the fact that their patron's heretical constellation holds sway over the night sky. Each week contains prompts to help the GM include these changes!
Weekly Prayers. Sometimes, players may find themselves reaching for an in-world prayer, either because the GM wants to add flavour to a scene or because a character is eager to display that Righteous trait to its fullest potential. With this diary, there's no need to scramble for inspiration - we've written a prayer for each week!
Daily Holidays and Events. Every day of this calendar contains at least one flavourful event, be it a holiday or (un)natural phenomenon. If the characters arrive in a village and want to know what's happening, the GM can glance at this information to help them build a scene!
Space for Notes. Most importantly, we've left room for GMs to write down important in-game information. Perhaps a character borrowed money from the wrong people - you can record when the bailiffs will come calling. Similarly, the diary makes it easy to remember when a lie will start to unravel, when a slow-acting poison will take hold, and when this or that faction was supposed to make good on a promise!

File Notes: This book has been exported so that, when printed, the pages can be cut to size, stapled together along the left-hand edges, then opened so that each week is displayed fully.
